ACTA rejected by the European Parliament

The Anti-Counterfeiting Trademark Agreement has been rejected by the European Parliament with 478 votes to 39. The treaty aimed to prevent copyright infringement in both digital and real world objects, which lead to quite a stir-up on the internet particularly due to the breach of privacy imposed by the act. But now it's gone. No more. Dead.

This news follows SOPA (a similar type of treaty) being killed in protest after being withdrawn by creator Lamar Smith. However, we have already seen ISPs blocking some sites, namely ThePirateBay. We don’t know what will happen next - another digital piracy act? Will more sites be blocked without our say? Who knows.
