Cabbies bring Olympics protest forward to avoid Met's Public Order Act

A high police presence was reported at Hyde Park Corner after London taxi drivers brought forward their plans to protest from 5pm, to 2pm. 

The demonstration went ahead despite the Metropolitan Police issuing a Public Order Act this morning. The conditions stated that no protest could take place after 4pm, and that any protest after this time must take place south of the river.

Taxi drivers blocked Hyde Park Corner, causing traffic chaos in the surrounding areas. 

The demonstration was announced by the police as over in just 30 minutes, however traffic remains severely congested in the area. The Met explained that:
