Confusion causes mass criticism of Big Ben name change

The renaming of one of Britain's most prominent landmarks has caused mass outrage today (Tues), however a crucial misunderstanding of the building itself appears to be the root of the problem.

It has been announced that Big Ben's tower will be renamed Elizabeth Tower to mark Queen Elizabeth II's 60th year on the throne. However, Big Ben refers only to the bell inside the clock at the top. The tower was previously named St Stephen's Tower, not Big Ben. However, this appears to be limited knowledge as hundreds spoke out about the 'stupid' decision, vowing to call the tower Big Ben forever.
