[Bangalore, INDIA] - A court in Bangalore extended by 14 days the judicial custody of French diplomat Pascal Mazurier, who was arrested for allegedly raping his four-year-old daughter.

"A magisterial court has extended Pascal's judicial custody for next 14 days," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Ravikante Gowda said.

Mazurier was the Deputy Head of Chancery in the Consulate of France in Bangalore, and was arrested on June 19th after a complaint by his wife Suja Jones Mazurier, that he raped their daughter.

Ms Mazurier was made aware of the alleged abuse after the child's maid said she had witnessed Mr Mazurier abusing the child on numerous occasions.

After his arrest, NGO's protested outside the police station he was being held at demanding the French national did not get any special treatment for being a foreign national.
