Detained Pussy Riot protester outraged after priest sprinkles prison bed with holy water

Echo of Moscow radio station have reported that detained member of Russian punk protest bank Pussy Riot, Catherine Samutsevich, is outraged after a priest made a visit to her cell and sprinkled holy water on her bed. The anti-Putin protester refused to speak to the priest and is 'indignant' about the uninvited visitor.

Samutsevich remains in custody despite a court hearing yesterday in which she and her two fellow detainees appealed their continued imprisonment. Ahead of the hearing at Moscow City Court the girls' lawyer felt confident that the appeal would be recognised and the protesters would be released. However the court upheld the decision and they will be held until at least July 24.

The three members of the punk collective have now been imprisoned for five months without being formally charged following their February protest in Moscow's Christ the Savior Cathedral in which an anti-Putin song was performed.

When their case finally faces court they could face up to a seven-year sentence for 'hooliganism'.
