A football match between two of Cyprus' most popular teams took a nasty turn on Sunday after a fan threw a flare at players.

The incident occurred during the second half, when one Anorthosis player was on the floor being treated for an injury. The loud noise created by the flare prompted players huddled round the injured man to cover their ears and faces. However, no injuries have been reported.

The match was suspended for ten minutes following the attack.
