Football fans worldwide slam John Terry as racism trial begins

As John Terry stands trial at Westminster Magistrates Court charged with allegedly racially abusing Anton Ferdinand during a match against QPR last October, football fans across the world have spoken out against the former England captain.

Terry is accused of shouting obscenities at Anton Ferdinand, which the prosecutors claim is visible on footage from the game. Terry has admitted that he did say the racist remarks to Ferdinand, but now claims they were said sarcastically.

'John Terry' has been trending this morning (Monday) as fans criticise both Terry himself and the justice system. Even if Terry is found guilty the maximum punishment he faces will be a £2,500 fine.
