A footballer has tragically died after clashing with an opposing teams goalkeeper in India.
Mahesh Thapa (27) striker of Torolpara Club accidentally collided with the goalkeeper of Bhanunagar Club at the Torolpara football ground said the General Secretary of the District Sports Association.
Thapa was hit in the chest by the goalkeeper's knee and fell down after immediately after contact.
However whilst Thapa was rushed to a local hospital, his condition turned serious. Sources say that due to lack of space in the Intensive Care Unit, he had to be rushed to a private nursing home but died on the way.
NDTV reported that a memorial has been held for the footballer.
