Hurricane Isaac reached on Wednesday early morning the city of New Orleans knocking out power and flooding beach-front roads.

Authorities said a storm surge pushed flood waters over a levee in the rural area of Plaquemines Parish.

The US National Hurricane Center said the storm's center was about 40 miles south-southwest of New Orleans and moving inland slowly.
