Hundreds of passengers have been stranded for several hours on the runway of Munich Airport today as the Air Traffic Control system has failed, along with the backup system as well.

Munich is a major European hub, so thousands of passengers could be affected as flights get cancelled and delayed across the continent.

Munich Airport authorities have not estimated when the system will be back up and running, at the time of writing.
