Olympics: Met Police ban Hyde Park taxi protest

The Metropolitan Police have placed heavy restrictions on a planned protest by taxi drivers due to take place this evening (Friday).

Frustrated taxi drivers were set to gather at Hyde Park Corner to demonstrate for the third time against their exclusion from Olympic lanes in the capital.

The Met have enforced the Public Order Act banning any demonstration north of the river.

Lee Osborne Secretary of the United Cabbies Group has told LBC that he and his members are frustrated. He said: "We're exercising our legal right to protest, but we're not sure where we stand with this."

Currently in talks with their advisors, it is uncertain at this time whether a protest will take place today.
