Public figures including, MPs, journalists and television personalities, joined dozens of women in Parliament Square on Thursday to participate in the global 'One Billion Rising' day calling for an end to violence against women.
Well-known people in attendance included Channel 4's Jon Snow, MP Karl Turner, Ruby Wax, Kathy Lette, and MP Yvette Cooper among others.
In its 15th year, organisers say that they are inviting one billion women to "demand an end to this violence". "ONE BILLION RISING will move the earth, activating women and men across every country. V-Day wants the world to see our collective strength, our numbers, our solidarity across borders" the organisers website said.
