A man and at least one woman have reportedly chained themselves to the inside of a bank in El Carmel, Barcelona, in protest of an eviction for failing to meet payments.

A livestream from the bank shows a man attached to a central column inside the bank, with tubes covering his forearms, and at least one woman on the other side of the column. Protests over evictions have become commonplace in Spain as banks move in on those who can no longer afford mortgage payments.

Previous protests have seen hundreds gather outside buildings where evictions are taking place, and even locksmiths refusing to work alongside the bailiffs.

Dozens of people have gathered outside the bank in solidarity with those protesting inside.
