Well that didn’t take long, did it? Within two years of the exposure of blatant thievery by more than HALF of the elected representatives of the people in Parliament, it turns out they are returning to their old ways and greedily scouring the rulebooks to extract those extra few thousands to keep their own personal austerity at bay.
As we all know, MP’s can claim expenses for a dwelling near Parliament and charge this to the taxpayer. Some choose to buy, others to rent. Some to choose to buy (charging the taxpayer) and then rent to other MPs (who charge the taxpayer) and pocket the difference as a free bonus to their already bloated salaries. “Within the rules” will once again be the rallying cry of the thieving bastards.
What concerns me more is the willingness of the Speaker of the House of Commons to suppress the publication of these expenses so that we, the fools who subsidise this nonsense may remain blissfully unaware – in a new age of “transparency”? In all honesty, if I had a workforce of 650 employees and half of them were found to have their grubby fingers in the till, I would be questioning my business model yet it appears these oafs may continue to plunder the public purse at will.
When do we overhaul Politics? Not tamper, meddle, adjust but genuinely overhaul the whole corrupt, rancid cesspit of self-advancement, greed and vested interests? We have now reached an age where every living person has a voice via media, the red button or the mobile phone in their pocket yet we still tolerate minority rule where one person speaks and acts for 95,000 of us whilst pledging actual alliance to whoever gives his political party the biggest bribe?
As November 5th once more approaches, the temptation to tear down the whole edifice, evict the villains, thieves and charlatans who thrive whilst spitting in our faces, grows ever stronger. Enough of “public enquiries” (that aren't) and spin doctors, press releases and special advisers enough of big state policies that infringe of every minutiae of our lives whilst those who inflict them upon us are free to ignore the very rules they insist we abide by, enough of the arrogance and elitist culture that assumes we continue to consent to be governed by pigs walking on two legs.
Now, about those 27 MP’s who have seen fit to steal our money, yet again……
