Since we decided to stop wandering the plains of Africa in search of berries and grubs and put down roots, mankind has evolved to protect the fruits of his labours. Our ancestors decreed that those who guarded their crops –in every sense, their wealth – survived to fight another day. Our entire history, like every other species on the planet is geared towards the survival of the fittest, strongest, smartest – brutal as it may be to our over sensitised egos – but the cold hard facts remain – those who save, invest, plan and protect plan are those who thrive and breed.
Only in the last 100 years or so has the world been turned on its head by warped Western values. What was once the effort of the individual to attract a superior breeding partner by providing food and shelter in the form of an attractive income and a property has been commandeered by the all power State collective to ensure that all are housed, all are fed and all are equal – regardless of their ability to labour, contribute, hunt or gather.
What was once a natural balance is now a ferocious unnatural imbalance. Benefits addicted unemployable thieves are subsidised by the honest and the hardworking of the hive to shack up with generations of welfare addicted breeding sows, throwing out litters of feral underlings to destroy what our ancestors strived to create. Our Western civilisation tears itself apart to support the very parasites that will eventually kill the host, like a cannibalistic raptor craving to feed the lethal tapeworm inside.
Dear reader, my rant above refers of course to the proposed criminalisation of squatters. The respect of the ownership of property is what sets the Libertarian apart from the collectivist, the socialist, the Marxist and the left wing anarchist. Property is the very reason we have the liberty to enjoy the fruits of our labours, property is the reason we can translate our efforts into capital to exchange as we see fit. It allows us to buy, rather than to steal, it allows us to barter, rather than to plunder, it allows us to negotiate, rather than to invade. Whilst I detest seeing a million unused properties and thousands of homeless, it is not a “human right” to be housed, fed and clothed at the cost of another man. You have no inalienable right to acquire the property of another man just as no other man has the right to acquire the fruits of your labours. If you wish to “occupy” then a route has always been open to you – negotiate freely with the legal owner to acquire ownership – do not steal or invade or assume possession by force over another.
Many activists out there are already screaming that where once squatting was merely a civil dispute and required the services of M’Learned friends to settle, it now simply requires the services of the boys in blue and half an hour of truncheon wielding to resolve. Somehow, the starvation of lawyers is deemed to be a bad thing whilst the plundering of another’s property is to be supported. No, nein, niente, non. Just as the very first action of civilised man was to build a fence to protect what was his, the very last action of the truly civilised man is still to protect his life’s work from plunderers and thieves .
It is the work of the primitive savage to acquire simply by force or occupation. From the marauding state with shiny tanks and robotic drones to the bearded Marxist jemmying open the window on your flat whilst you are at work, if it isn’t yours, keep your thieving hands off it. True civilisation lies in the respect for the labours of others and the freedom for them to spend their own acquired wealth how they choose, not dictated by the selfish demands of the voracious “collective” to rewrite evolution in its own vested interests. As the native Americans famously once said - "get off my land".
