Rose Street in Edinburgh is to be upgraded, in an attempt to stop shoppers from bypassing it on their way to Princes Street or George Street.
The street contains a wide range of shops and restaurants. Business group Essential Edinburgh is hoping that the £400,000 improvement plan will attract new consumers to Rose Street.
While the full plans are still to be unveiled, they are believed to include information boards at the entrances to the street, more seating and improvements to pavements and street lighting.
Andy Neil, the chief executive of Essential Edinburgh, said: “We want it to be a lot more welcoming. If you are visiting Princes Street or George Street, people will go between those and not on to Rose Street.”
The improvements will be carried out in conjunction with Edinburgh City Council.
