The Occupy Edinburgh camp has been told that if they do not leave today they may be subject to forcible eviction.
Protesters have been camped in St. Andrew's Square for almost three months, and had not planned an end-date. However, a meeting has been held today to discuss whether to voluntarily leave the site or face the formal eviction process.
The call for eviction has come after reports of "potentially dangerous" people at the camp, and several incidents to which the police have been called.
Business leaders have also pointed to the impact of the site on the area.
Essential Edinburgh, the city centre management company, has said that eviction is a possible solution at their disposal.
