Edinburgh police are continuing to provide high visibility patrols in Leith following the murder of 34 year old Polish man, Maciej Ciania, in the area late last week.

Ciania was found in his home in Dickson Street at around 9am on Saturday morning by his flatmate.

Police have said that the man was last seen on Thursday morning, and officers are working to piece together his last movements.

Police patrols are continuing in the area to reassure concerned members of the community. 40 officers are currently working on the case, and are appealing for any information.

Detective Superintendent Allan Jones said:

“We understand that local Leith residents may be nervous in their communities following such a significant event, however I would like to reassure members of the public that there is no immediate danger...We will continue to provide extra officers on and around Dickson Street, not only to gather vital information, but to put people’s minds at ease."
