Figures reveal that unemployment in the Scottish capital has risen in 9% in the last year.
The number of people on Job Seeker's Allowance in December 2011 was 11,117, compared with 10,224 in December 2010, and increase of 9%.
Unemployment in Scotland as a whole has also increased. The number increased by 19,000 in September-November 2011 alone. 231,000 people are now registered as unemployed in Scotland, 8.6% of the population, compared with 8.4% of the British population overall.
This week it has been revealed that unemployment in Britain has reached 2.68m, a 17-year high, with young people especially affected.
