Euro2012: Body of missing Irish football fan found in Poland

Police have reportedly found a body during searches for an Irish football fan in Poland who has been missing since Sunday. It has been confirmed to be that of the missing football fan, James Nolan.

James, 21, was last seen in the early hours of Sunday morning in Bydgoszcz, about 130km northeast of Poznan. He and his friends, who were travelling in a camper van, stopped in Bydgoszcz on their way back from Gdansk to Poznan when Mr Nolan became separated from the group.

Yesterday, police divers searched the river which runs through Bydgoszcz, while friends of Mr Nolan gave detailed statements to police. The body was located at a marina near Bydgoszcz Cathedral, in an area already searched by police, some 200 meters from where Mr Nolan was last seen.

Following his disappearance on Sunday his friends, family and thousands of concerned football fans, and members of the public took to Twitter to raise awareness and appeal for information. Thousands have visited a Facebook page, and have shared a picture to help the search.
