Aldgate East tube station is reportedly closed due to a police incident.

One eye witness has said that a suspect package was found.

Whitechapel Road is closed in both directions, road closures are affecting the Liverpool Street, Aldgate and Brick Lane areas.

UPDATE:

Whitechapel Road and Aldgate East tube station have returned to normal following a security alert.
