Fire in museum at site of England's oldest prison

Britain's oldest prison was evacuated yesterday after a small fire broke out in the basement.

Tourists visiting the museum on the site of the original Clink Prison on Clink Street, Southwark SE1, had their visits to the 1144 prison site cut short, however London FIre Brigade have confirmed that there were no injuries and minimal damage to the museum.

It took four fire engines and 20 firefighters to tackle the blaze in under an hour.
