An elderly man has died after being hit by a truck in Tooting Broadway this morning.

The incident happened on Mitcham Road at approximately 9.30am. Although emergency services arrived on the scene within minutes, they were unable to resuscitate the 70-year-old man after he was rescued from underneath the truck.

Many people witnessed the accident outside of a Greggs bakery and Primark store.

A large section of the road remains cordoned off.
