The Avon and Somerset police has released new images related to the investigation of Rico Gordon's murder, on Stapleton Road, on Sunday 3 July 2011 after the St Paul's Carnival in Bristol. The new CCTV images show vehicles and people in and around Stapleton Road at the time Rico Gordon, who was 21, was murdered. After analysing the footage, officers who have been investigating the murder believe that the occupant(s) of a white Vauxhall Combo van may hold crucial information as the images show that the van drove off right after the moment Rico Gordon was killed.
Since the investigation started, involving the Metropolitan Police and Operation Trident, as well as Rico Gordon's family, two men have been charged in connection with Rico's death. Detective Superintendent Sue Scott said:
"Rico Gordon lost his life needlessly and we are committed to bringing those responsible for his death to justice. We know the area was very busy at the time due to parties taking place following the carnival. We believe there are still a number of witnesses or people with valuable information we have not yet spoken to.
"Gun crime has devastating consequences as clearly demonstrated in this case and Avon and Somerset Police will continue to tackle and prevent this type of violent crime."
