Next week will see to a service to celebrate the lives of former police inspector Toby Day, his wife Samantha and his six-year-old daughter Genevieve. A service to commemorate their lives is to be held at All Saints Church in Oakham, on Thursday. In December 2011, 37-year-old Mr Day is thought to have stabbed his wife and youngest daughter in their family home in Melton, before killing himself. The attack happened days after his sacking from the police force, following a misconduct. The two elder children, aged 15 and 14, survived the attack. Relatives of the family spoke about the support they had received from the community, in a statement released: "We are all overwhelmed by everything that is going on to raise money for Kimberley and Adam as well as the love, thoughts, prayers and hugs." "The community's response has been deeply moving and we are drawing strength from it." The Melton Times has raised over £12,000 to help support the family's two remaining children. The service will start at 2pm next Thursday. Meanwhile, donations can be made at various places, to the police federation fund account at HSBC, sort code 40-32-14, account number 91606077 and to the Melton Times trust fund, by sending a cheque to 'Day Trust Fund Kimberley and Adam' to: Melton Times, 49 Nottingham Street, Melton Mowbray, LE13 1NT.
