Body
Leicestershire's biggest law firm has began a major restructuring of the firm. The firm has asked four partners to leave and a further five partners have changed their positions within the firm. The law company Harvey Ingram stated that a partner at the Leicester’s head office was leaving, and three others were leaving offices in Birmingham, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire. Four other partners had become either directors or consultants. According to Managing partner Simon Astill, the move was part of a major restructuring of the business to meet changes in the industry, which may also result in redundancies. "There's enormous opportunities for legal services in the current crisis," said Mr Astill. "But we've got to realign our business accordingly. "There may be redundancies across the group. This is not a cutting process, it's a restructuring process. The purpose of the review is to see what we need, so the number of employees could go up or down." Mr Astill declined to name any of the partners affected by the shake-up. However, he has assured that the group's workforce of 400 should not change, because potential new positions could be created from the resulting shake up. Mr Astill explained the company’s actions saying: "We have implemented an aggressive growth plan which began earlier this year when we merged with Borneos. "The next step of this expansion sees us realigning our services to meet the shifting patterns of the work we are winning. We cannot afford to stand still and nor would our clients want us to. We must free up funds to invest in the areas in demand. "This is a careful, deliberate strategy. For instance, family law and specialist property work are growing, so we are bolstering our teams in those areas. "In the past 12 months we have added three new offices and five new partners, expanded the Leicester and Birmingham teams and recruited 12 new solicitors and associates."
