There are reports of a person having been hit by a train at Barnsley railway station.

The incident is believed to have happened at 14:40 this afternoon.

Emergency services are currently attending.

Northern Rail train services between Wakefield / Huddersfield and Sheffield are subject to disruption.

UPDATE

National Rail have now said on Twitter that the person has 'fallen underneath a train' rather than having been hit by one. Rail services continue to be delayed while emergency response staff attend.

BBC Radio Sheffield have said that a woman has been injured after a wheelchair went off the platform.

Network Rail has said that the woman was on a mobility scooter.

Severe delays have been reported as trains are diverted from Barnsley station.

The woman has been taken to hospital suffering from minor injuries.
