A fire has totally destroyed the Sheffield Ski Village.

Emergency services were called to the Ski Village after a fire broke out in the early hours of this morning.

The first reports of the fire came into 999 control centres at around 1am.

The fire has destroyed the main building at the Ski Village.

There are a number of road closures around the area and a safety cordon has been put in place.

South Yorkshire Police are in the very early stages of a joint investigation with South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, therefore the cause of the fire cannot be ascertained at this point, until the site is safe.

Officials are following lines of enquiry to establish when the fire may have started and are working closely with the owners of the site.
