Grand piano cannabis smuggler imprisoned for six years

Evan Masson, 34, has been sentenced to six years imprisonment for smuggling over £400,000 worth of weed from South Africa and hiding it in a grand piano.

Masson arranged for the stash to be shipped from his native South Africa to Felixstowe in Suffolk.

The former sound engineer, boasted to a friend in a text: "My sh** arrived today. Will be in my hands probably by Tuesday. We'll never go hungry again.'

He enlisted construction boss and fellow South Africa Brian Beangstrom, 60, to help him transport the consignment, paying him £300 for the use of his van.

Masson was sentenced yesterday at Highbury Magistrates Court.
