Arsenal have signed Montpellier and France international Olivier Giroud from the French champions for around £12 million.
The striker, who netted 21 goals this season, is a 25 year-old talent who many believe was central to Montpellier’s success in winning the Ligue 1 in France.
Giroud hasn't featured at the Euro's yet but featured for France in their impressive 2-1 win over Germany at the end of February, scoring his first goal for Les Bleus.
Arsenal don't see Giroud as a replacement for Van Persie but a striker to add to their attacking options alongside the prolific Dutchman. They have also signed German international Lukasz Podolski for £11.9 million.
