Saudi authorities banned on Sunday students from wearing “emo” clothing and hairstyle, Al-Arabiya report quoting local media as saying.

The “emo” style was deemed “improper and deviant” by Saudi authorities after investigation, Al-Arabiya says. The government called on Universities across the country to ban students from dressing like ‘emos’.

The report adds that female student wearing “boyish styles” would also be expelled.

The ban from universities is only the first step as according to local media, the Saudi regime is looking into banning the “emo" style from public places.
