A group claiming to be part of internet hactivist group Anonymous have taken down the websites of the Kremlin and the Russian President.
The sites kremlin.ru and президент.рф were taken down after @Op_Russia tweeted:
“Kremlin.ru – TANGO DOWN” on their Twitter account, co-opting the military-derived code word to report their successful attack.
“Russian Anonymous” had warned they would attack Russian governmental sites on Monday to show solidarity with the opposition demos after hundreds of protesters demonstrated outside the Presidential palace in Moscow against the re-election of Vladimir Putin to the Presidency.
Other Russian government websites were said to have some problems too but have not been taken down.
More to follow.
