During Jerusalem Day festivities on Sunday, an Israeli soldier engaged in a hot pursuit after a 10-year-old Palestinian boy who had been involved in a dispute with an Israeli man over a Palestinian flag. According to eyewitnesses, the Israeli man took the young boy's flag and refused to return it. The boy then tried to get it back which prompted an Israeli officer to intervene. The border police officer chased the young boy down a busy street of Jerusalem. As he was about to catch the kid, a 22-year-old Israeli activist intervened, threw herself in front the border police officer, and prevented the boy from being arrested. The incident, which was caught on tape, has sparked outrage amongst rights group and Palestinian activists. Several photos taken by passers-by and activists also showed an enraged officer chasing a very innocent-looking child. On Twitter many have saluted the courage of the young Israeli activist with tweets saying "I am a fan of this girl" or "@SaharMvardi is my hero". Others have expressed their anger and fury over the incident and described the officer's behaviour as "horrible abuse".
