WARNING GRAPHIC VIDEO A suicide bomber blew himself up across the street from a mosque in the Syrian capital Friday, killing at least nine people and wounding more than 20, state TV said. The explosion took place in the Midan district, central Damascus. Activists say the explosion happened under the southern highway next to Zein al-Abdeen mosque. Intensive gunfire was heard after the explosion. A large number of injured civilians have been transported to al-Mujtahad Hospital, activists say. This is the second explosion heard in Damascus today. Earlier an explosion was heard in the al-Sinaa district, southern Damascus, near a government facility housing militiamen loyal to President Bashar al-Assad, Reuters reported quoting activists and residents as saying. Syrian state TV broadcast images which reportedly show the aftermath of the blast in the Midan disctrict. In the video we can see body parts and pieces of flesh scattered near the scene of the explosion. The report blamed "terrorists groups", a term used by the regime of President Bashar Assad to refer to rebels.
