A teenage girl, and three members of her family, have been released on bail by a court in Karachi, Pakistan, after she was charged with mutilating the genitals of a ex-boyfriend who deceived her.

According to report the 19-year-old girl had been dating a 24-year-old man and they were allowed to visit each other but this stopped when the man decided to marry another woman. However, the girl claims that the visits continued after his marriage, and that he tried to sleep with her.

In her defence she said that she used the knife in self defence.
The man’s cousin has said that doctors are "hopeful that everything would return to normal".
