Kuly Ral from the world renowned Bhangra group RDB passed away yesterday. Although the cause is unknown it is speculated that he may have succumbed to a battle with cancer.
The UK-born trio of brothers from Bradford gave us hits such as, "Yamla Pagla Deewana", "Aloo Chaat" and their latest number which created a rage among the youth, "sadi gali". RDB successfully conquered the UK and Indian Bhangra Industry, blending western genres with traditional Punjabi beats and vocals.
Kuly, Manj and Surj, were introduced to music at a very young age by their father who taught them to sing religious songs and play the harmonium in their Gurdwara (Temple).
It was only in the last few days that it was announced RDB planned to open a studio in India, to fully tap into the Bollywood music industry. His death has come as a shock to the industry and his fans, many of whom have expressed their grief on Twitter.
