Four friends between the ages of 14 and 16, attempted to kill themselves in a rehabilitation centre in Istanbul's Kemerburgaz area, Hurriyetdaily reported on Wednesday.

The four girls reportedly attempted to commit suicide because they were “bored of life”, local media explain.

The incident happened in the girls’ room where they gathered after stealing medicine from the infirmary.

Shortly after, one of the girls passed out which prompted one of the other girls to alert personel. The four friends were then rushed to hospitals

"We've been planning to escape, then we thought of attempting suicide," one of girls said. "It was easier for us to escape once we were brought to the hospital. That's why we chose that method."
