A young woman from New Jersey could face a lawsuit for texting her boyfriend whilst he was driving and who eventually crashed into a couple on a motorcycle, imore.com has reported quoting the New York Post.
The judge in charge of the case is still debating whether to hold the young woman responsible for the accident as the 18-year-old boy behind the wheel is believed to have been reading her girlfriend’s text when the accident happened.
The couple who was hit by the car filled a lawsuit against the driver but are trying to have his girlfriend added to the suit as well.
Speaking to the New York Post the victims’ attorney said: “If you know somebody is operating a motor vehicle, if you know it is illegal to text and drive because it violates the law, if you know it’s dangerous, if you know all this and knowingly send a text, then a jury should decide.”
The girlfriend's attorney told The Daily Record that his client cannot decide when and where her boyfriend is going to read her text message.
The judge should render his decision on May 25.
